Contract signed for Construction of Water Intake Facility and Raw Water Transmission Pipeline in Khulna, Bangladesh

On March 9, 2016 Bangladesh Subbranch, CGC South Asia (First) Branch signed the contract with the employer, Khulna Water Supply and Sewerage Authority(KWASA), for Construction of Water Intake Facility and Raw Water Transmission Pipeline in Khulna, Bangladesh under loan from Japan International Cooperation Agency(JICA).

The bidding documents(Technical & Price Bid) were submitted on December 11, 2014 and the Technical Proposal was opened at the same day. The Commercial Proposal was opened on February 14, 2015 and we won the bid successfully. With long-term and extraordinary efforts made and promoted by Bangladesh Subbranch, the approval finally made by JICA, Board of KWASA and Cabinet Committee on Governmental Purchase(CCGP), Bangladesh, the employer awarded the contract on March 7, 2016 with contract amount of BDT 2,013,274,419 and USD 64,935,960 (total equivalent to approximate USD 90.91 million). Financed by JICA loan, the main works of this project are construction of raw water intake facility with capacity of 110,000 tons per day and construction of DN1400 raw water transmission pipeline with total length of 33km, of which 27.73km of ductile iron pipes and 5.27km of steel pipes, with road crossing by pipe jacking construction involved, completion period of 910 days and maintenance period of 365 days.

Construction of Water Intake Facility and Raw Water Transmission Pipeline in Khulna, Bangladesh is the third water conservancy project that CGC South Asia (First) Branch has gained in Bangladesh after Construction of Clear Water Transmission Mains and River Crossing in Khulna, Bangladesh, of which contract signed on June 9, 2014 with contract amount of USD 28.34 million, and Construction of Distribution Pipe Network in Khulna, Bangladesh, of which contract signed on October 21, 2014 with contract amount of 45.62 million. With the same employer, KWASA, the construction areas of abovementioned three projects are in the same city of Khulna.

With CGC’s support and instruction, CGC South Asia (First) Branch will make great efforts to fully show our executive power, to gain more market share and to establish the good brand image for conservancy projects through the great performance of abovementioned signed contracts and positive participation in following planned bidding in the early stage of water conservancy market in Bangladesh.
